About the Role
STLLR Gold is a dynamic mineral exploration company focused on discovery and developing the Tower Gold Project and Hollinger Tailings Project in the Timmins area. We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Geotechnician to join our exploration team. The successful candidate will support core processing, field programs, and contribute to the successful execution of our ongoing exploration projects.
The position will report to the Exploration Manager and will support a collaborative and multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have strong background in exploration programs, field operations, core processing and a focus on safety.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Collaboration
- Participate in health and safety initiatives, daily and monthly meetings and required reporting. 
- Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed at all times. 
- Work safely in different locations, under varying weather and terrain conditions. 
- Collaborate with the STLLR team and contractors to ensure that the programs and project are properly planned, executed and documented in order to be on time and on budget. 
Core Shack & Field
- Intake of drill core and field samples. This includes racking, loading, and unloading core boxes as required. both inside the coreshack and in the yard. 
- Cut core samples in half with a wet saw, while following QA/QC protocols. 
- Assist with preparing core sample shipments. 
- Setup core racks as required. 
- Operate all equipment with diligence and care. 
- Assist with the collection of samples for third party pulp checks. 
- Perform geoteching tasks from time to time, like marking and measuring drill core, labeling, orientation, measuring recovery/ RQD, recording magnetic susceptibility taking bulk density measurements, and sampling. 
- Field work is not a common part of daily activities but may be required from time to time. This includes but is not limited to GPS work, flagging access, supervising contractors, spotting drillholes, drill site inspections, site closure, remediation and assisting geologists with sampling (rock, soil, till, etc.). 
- Onsite coordination with vendors to ensure deliverables are on time and within budget. 
- Other duties as assigned. 
Prerequisites
Education, Training & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in mineral exploration, with experience working with a wet saw preferred. 
- A valid Ontario G driver’s licence with a clean driving record. 
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including word and excel (preferred). 
- First Aid, WHMIS, and other relevant safety certifications (preferred).
